There are concerns from pet owners after a tiger at the Bronx Zoo in New York tested positive for COVID-19.

Right now, health experts believe pets can get the virus. However, in the United States, no dogs or cats have tested positive.
“We are still learning so much about this virus, just like we are on the human side,” Jennifer Granick, an associate professor at the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine, said. “I don’t think there’s a reason to panic, but there’s a reason to use some common sense.”
Experts advise dog owners keep their pets six feet away from other people and animals. Those who have cats are asked to keep their pets inside.
“If you’re sick, avoid cuddling with your pet, which is kind of sad because when you’re sick that’s really the first thing you want to do,” Granick said.
At this time, there is no evidence to suggest that any animals can spread COVID-19 to people.
