One of two therapy dogs missing from West Glenville home found dead

March 26, 2020

“It is with deepest regret and a heavy heart that we inform you that Orso was found deceased he is now home in heaven,” Powers posted on a Facebook page devoted to the search for the two dogs, whom she said have provided therapy and support for her during recent surgeries, and went  missing under mysterious circumstances. Details about where the deceased dog was found were not provided.

“We are currently still searching for Lucia,” Powers posted. “Please keep her in your prayers and please keep an eye out for her. We want to thank everyone for their kindness and sincerity. Please share this to update everyone. Please respect our family’s privacy at this time. This is very difficult and not the outcome we were hoping for.”

The search for the missing dogs generated leads and tips from across the Northeast, and was widely shared on social media. The search for the dogs was placed on an electronic billboard near Albany, and a reward fund has risen to $7,500.

The two dogs — 3-year-old Orso and year-old Lucia — were put out on the morning of Monday, March 2, while a visiting nurse performed a medical procedure on Powers. They had not been seen since.
